One nurse, two westies and a sewing machine.
I grew up in a crafty family amongst the rolling hills of Gippsland. I have beautiful memories of my mum teaching me to sew when I was ten, and test driving the toy cars my dad handcrafted in his workshop. The style of my bags draws inspiration from my childhood characterised by the sounds of The Beatles and Abba playing from the record player, the gentle animals on our property, and upcycling vintage fashion from the op shop.
Bec & Milly began from my love of sewing and working with vibrant and vintage fabrics. For many years my West Highland Terrier Milly sat devotedly by my side as I worked to create individual purses and bags that I hoped would make the beautiful women in my life feel special and loved. Sadly, Milly passed away two years ago but her memory lives on in Bec & Milly.
Each handbag is individually crafted by myself from my home in Melbourne, made from fabrics sourced everywhere from our travels to fabric stores on the streets of Tokyo, to the op shop down the road, and to flea markets in the south of France. Some of my creations are truly one of a kind, all are sure to add that unforgettable spark to your outfit.
